As part of the Green Deal and the Action Plan on Circular Economy, the EU adopts regulations that successively reduce the use of new fossil materials. Climate protection legislation, the EU Commission and public opinion explicitly demand action against global warming from the healthcare sector as well. The sector is responsible for 4.3% of climate gas emissions worldwide.
On the materials side, however, there are no circular economy or CO2-reduced solutions available today - apart from BIOVOX.Business Model
BIOVOX develops, qualifies, certifies and distributes bioplastics in medical grade quality. Our customers pay for this as part of their procurement.
The business has long lead times due to the development and approval cycles of our customers' products.
On the other hand, the supplier of the plastics cannot simply be replaced for regulatory reasons - BIOVOX can often build on up to 15 years of stable sales from one project.Technology Description
Our sustainable and circular material portfolio is specifically tested and formulated for the healthcare sector. For our Medical Grade Bioplastics we qualify non-medical sustainable raw materials for the use in health care applications and developing sustainable plastics compounds out of these raw materials. Typical applications range from single-use items, diagnostic devices to surgical instruments as well as packaging. While we currently primarily address the DACH region, internalization is planned.
